A very simple recipe perhaps one of the easiests things you can cook on a dutch oven and feel good about.
Wash potatoes, chop onions and trim the fat on your steak.
There is no oil needed for this reciple simple place everything on a larger 14 dutch oven, place the onion above and below the steak.
Use about 14 coals under and about 16 above this will cook in approximately 45 minutes.
The way to tell the potatoes are baked is by impaling it with a knife it will be very soft. Use a thermometer if possible to determine how the center of the steak is cooked I personally prefer it to be on the rare side . The longer you bake it the harder the meat will get. Looks are deceiving! It may appear to be undercooked on the exterior when it is actually not this is the nature of baking a steak as opposed to grilling. Enjoy!
